Msa Muay Thai Premier League - 7th November
DeVere Whites Hotel, Bolton

Jordan Watson (Bad Company) v Stephen Meikle (Caledonian Scotland) - Jordan Won on points in a great performance against a very tough and brave opponent.

Andy Howson lost to Rungravee Sasiprapa when we withdrew him before round 4. Andy was very brave against a very powerful and tough opponent but was hurt badly in round 1 and couldnt recover. He shipped a lot of punishment but in typical Andy fashion really took the fight to Rungravee.

Liam Harrison was outpointed by current Lumpini champion Sakedau in a close exciting fight. Liam landed solid shots and gave great account of himself but Sakedao landed the better scoring shots to stay ahead.

4 World, European and UK championship bouts Super Prestige fights including:

  • Andre Kulebin (14x World Champion) v Michael Dicks (Intercontinental champion) - Kulebin won by KO in round 1
  • Saenchai (Lumpinee champion at 3 weights; Thailand’s 2009 Sports Personality & Best Thai Boxer 2008) v Rob Storey (British Champion) - Sanchai won by TKO round 4.
  • Sakkedao (Lumpinee & Rajchadamnern Featherweight champion & Best Thai Boxer 2008) v Liam ‘Hitman’ Harrison (World Champion)
  • Rungravee (Lumpinee champion) v Andy Howson (World Champion)
  • Andy Thrasher (World Champion) v Redwan Ameur (European Champion) - Ameur won on points
  • Jordan Calder (British Champion) v Anthony Sheldon (#1 Contender) - Calder won on points

Master Sken launches MSA with ‘Muay Thai Premier League

Master Sken takes Thai Boxing promotion in the UK to new levels with ‘Muay Thai Premier League’ at the Reebok De Vere White Hotel, Bolton on November 1st, 2009. Sanctioned by the World Muay Thai Council, Thailand, the show features top class World Championship clashes including Saenchai Sor Kingstar (Thailand) V Rob Storey (England), Rungravee Sasiprapa (Thailand) V Andy Howson (England) and Sakeddaw (Thailand) V Liam “The Hit man “Harrison (England). The show is also notable for the fact that it marks the official launch of MSA (Master Sken Academy) which is dedicated to making Muaythai a mainstream global media sport. MSA shows will feature the very best Muay Thai champions from Thailand as well as from around the globe.

Master Sken has teamed up with Dr Swee Lip Quek, to create an organization that will truly stand out as an ambassador for Muay Thai – and turbocharge the profile and essential culture of Thai martial arts within the world of entertainment and media.

The timing for this venture is key to its success and Master Sken notes that various factors have raised the profile of Muay Thai worldwide - not least the global success of the film ‘Ong Bak’ and the commercial impact of the UFC and MMA, especially as Muay Thai is dominant as the stand-up art of many top MMA fighters. With these factors in mind, he believes that Muay Thai can recapture the television coverage it had with ‘Now is the Time’. To this end he has a dedicated team working on the TV issue, stating that “we are getting very close to completing deals with many TV companies and it is a matter of choosing those which we should partner with for the longer term. We are now negotiating with Setanta, Middle East, Italian, Korean, Singaporean, Thai and American television stations.” It is for this reason that he selects top quality fighters for his shows and focuses on match making as “it is so important that Muay Thai is being promoted properly and provides hugely enjoyable viewing for ‘live’ and media audiences alike.”

The key to achieving MSA’s ultimate objective to bring the best of Muay Thai to the world is to ensure that it is devoted to getting the best from and for viewers, fighters, investors, sponsors, partners and staff alike. Without an all-round win-win motivational focus, any success will not be sustainable. The golden rule “do for others what you wish others would do for you – and add a bit more” is of MSA’s founding tenets.

Master Sken firmly believes that Muay Thai is not only a heritage of Thailand but also a heritage of the World.

Master Sken’s thoughts on the title fights in the November Muay Thai Premier League show:

1. WMC Supreme World Muaythai Championship
Saenchai Sor. Kingstar (Thailand) V Rob Storey (England)
Saenchai is a great champion of Thailand and Thailand Sport Personality of 2008. He defeated Liam” The Hit man” Harrison the beginning of this year. He has all round excellent techniques of Muaythai and Muay Boran and is a living legend. Rob Storey, from Keddles Gym, defeated Rung from Thailand, April this year. Storey is a very tough fighter from an excellent trainer- Alan Keddle. This will be a remarkable fight and people will travel from over the country – and from Europe - to watch this.

2. WMC Supreme World Muaythai Championship
Rungravee Sasiprapa (Thailand) V Andy Howson (England)
Rungravee is recognized as one of (Thai) Television Stadium Channel 5‘s best fighters and was voted ‘Best Fight of the year 2009’. He is from Sasiprapa gym, voted by the Thai media as the ‘Best Muay Thai gym 2008.’ Andy Howson is exceptionally tough and one of the best fighters from our shores. This fight is potentially one of best fights of the year.

3. Sakeddaw (Thailand) V Liam ‘The Hit man’ Harrison (England)
Sakeddaw is a top champion of both the Lumpinee and Ratchadamnern stadiums. In April, he defeated the legendary Anuwat Kaewsamrit, who is a Muaythai superstar and, indeed, ‘living legend’. Again this is another fight that will not disappoint - and is another candidate for the title of ‘Best Fight of the Year’ in 2009.

4 Rung (Thailand/Scotland) V Panikos Yusuf (Cyprus/England)
Rung is very experienced fighter; a former World Champion who has beaten Richard Cadden and many highly ranked fighters from around the World. Panikos won his last two fights by KOs and is a tenacious fighter. Both will come well prepared for what will surely be another thrilling showdown.
